The Hunger Games: MockingJay Part 2

I have loved all the Hunger Games films and have looked forward to each and everyone of them. I was a bit apprehensive about this movie, having read all of books I wasn’t sure how they would stay true the story, because I really loved the series of books. For example, when Finnick died in the book (even though it was just small bit in the book) it was so powerful I had to put the book down for a bit to just realise what had happened. The imagery in the book was just so powerful I could ‘see’ it all happening in my head, because this was so powerful to me, I was concerned with how they would get that scene onto the screen and if they would do it justice. I have to say that they exceeded my expectations because of the amazing acting by Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss Everdeen) and Sam Claflin (Finnick Odair); Jennifer Lawrence caused the same feelings I had when I was reading book, with just a look of anguish on her face and distressed calls to Finnick when he got pulled back into the sewer by the rabid beasts. With the heart wrenching screams made by Sam Claflin my heart broke when Katniss set the self destruct on the holo map to at least try and make Finnick’s suffering end faster. Another is Peeta’s character transformation in his film; Josh Hutcherson was brilliant with that transformation I can barely put into words how impressed I was with his acting, he has definitely grown into his own in this film as an actor.
I really loved the last book and thought it was a great way to end a beloved series.
It is amazing that they managed to stay true to the book, not many films do that very well. For example the last Harry Potter, even though they managed to keep all the facts of the Harry Potter world accurate (for example the Horcrux’s and the Deathly Hallows legend) a lot of it was different, (e.g. the final battle with Voldemort for one) but that is how it works a lot of the time when adapting a book into a film.
I was nearly close to tears when Katniss broke down at the sight of Prim’s cat back in District 12, again just showing Jennifer Lawrence’s expert acting skills (another Oscar nomination anyone 🙂 ).
The time hop forward a few years… All I can say is… Perfect!

A great way to end a beloved series 🙂
