The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death

So I was really excited about seeing the new Woman in Black, and it was good, I did jump out of my skin and there were some very good points in this film. I found the acting good and very compelling which is what you need when creating a horror film, or it would just be funny instead of spooky.

Though no sequel is ever as good as the first film this one I did feel a little disappointed. I felt that the Woman in Black had been given more power in this film than she appeared to have in the first one. I won’t say in which scenes incase fellow readers haven’t seen the film.

I did find this film really well filmed though; the cinematography, the director (Tom Harper) really had a vision and  you can see this in every scene.

The film definitely had its high points, but I think it could have been done better, for instance the climax of the film set in the marshes felt more of an attempt at a happy ending for the boy, Edward (played by Oaklee Pendergast) and  Eve (played by Phoebe Fox).  I feel the climax could have been achieved better if it had been in style with the original Woman in Black film, Book and stage production.

You could see throughout the film that they definitely tried to keep it in that style and really succeeded in the beginning of the film and partway into the middle but kind of missed it near the ending as they appeared to be trying to get a particular ending instead of letting it flow to a natural ending.

With all that said I would definitely recommend seeing it if you enjoyed the first one as it does have some amazing jumps and spooks in it even when you can see it coming from a mile away. Good entertainment.
