Christmas Wishing…
Chrissie looked out of her bedroom window staring up at the stars in the black sky, the stars looked like tiny diamonds that had gotten stuck in the sky.
Chrissie was wishing upon a star so bright in the sky:
Star light, star bright,
First star I see tonight,
I wish I may, I wish I might,
Have this wish I wish tonight.
She kept repeating in her head over and over again as she wished for her dad to be home for Christmas.
After she had made her wish she turned away from her window and climbed into bed, looking over at her bedside table and checking that her letter to Father Christmas was still there, content that it was, she curled under her covers to sleep.
Chrissie’s mother came into her room later that night to read her letter to Father Christmas and make a list of what she wanted for Christmas:
Dear Santa
All I want for Christmas this year is for my Daddy to be home so he can read me a bed time story at night and make my mummy happy at night again.
I miss my daddy so please bring him home.
Thank you
Merry Christmas
Chrissie 🙂
P.S. I would also really like a pony please .
Chrissie’s mum gave a small chuckle at the last line, Chrissie had been wanting a pony for a while now; not understanding that a horse needs way more room than the tiny garden that they had.
She gave a sigh though as she took the letter to Santa with her, she would love to bring Danny home for Christmas in a few weeks but it was not up to him or her if he came home, that was one of the problems with having a Husband and Father in the RAF as sometimes they won’t be home for some of the important times in the year. She would just have to distract Chrissie from the fact that he is not home at the moment and might not be home this Christmas.
A few weeks later it was Christmas morning. Chrissie and her mother had just gotten down stairs to open the presents when the doorbell went. Wondering who it could be Chrissies mother went to open the door, there stood Danny home for Christmas.
Letting out a screech of happiness Chrissie launched herself at her father giving him a huge hug and smiling so much her face could split in half.
It was her Christmas wish come true….
